One easy solution might be to plug in one end of the patchlead into the NF469 tester, when it is set to port flash mode, you will see the led flashing on the patch panel, either on port or front panel.

Why my continuity test always showing short?

Please make sure cable is looped back to main unit when doing continuity test. Remote unit is only to be used for sweep testing.
